WinMX Peer Network
Connect... Connects
to the WinMX Peer Network.
Disconnect... Disconnects
from the WinMX Peer Network.
Network Identity... Specifies
the name to be used on the WinMX Peer Network.
Connection
Type... Allows you to determine whether
you operate as a Primary or Secondary node on the WinMX Peer Network.

OpenNap Protocol Networks:
Connect... Attempts to connect to the user highlighted OpenNap server(s).
Disconnect...
Disconnects any user highlighted OpenNap server(s).
Stop Attempts...
Stops all current connection attempts on OpenNap servers not already
established.
Add...
Allows you to manually add an OpenNap server of your choice.
Edit... Allows
you to edit the details of any listed OpenNap server.
Remove...
Removes the currently highlighted server(s) from the list.
Find .WSX...
Uses the WinMX Peer Network to search for importable 'WSX' server lists.
Import .WSX...
Allows you to manually select a WSX OpenNap server list to import.
Export .WSX...
Allows you to export the current OpenNap server list to WSX format.
Shared
Files Window
(Top)
Share Folder...
Click this to locate a folder or drive you wish to share publicly.
Unshare Folder...
When clicked lists the currently shared folders/drives allowing them to be
unshared.
Refresh...
Refreshes the list of shared files to account for any changes (new files,
files moved, etc).
Shared File Types...
Use this to specify what types of files you want to share, e.g. MP3, AVI,
JPG, MPG, MPEG, etc.
Scan For Media...
Click this to have WinMX scan your hard drive(s) automatically for media
that can be shared.
Chat Window
(Top)
List Channels...
Allows you to list available chat channels from any currently connected
network.
Host
New Channel...
Creates your own channel on the WinMX Peer Network. See here
for more detail.
Join Selected Channel...
Joins any currently highlighted channel.
Refresh List...
Refreshes the list of available channels on the selected network.
Close...
Closes the WinMX chat window.
Search Window
(Top)
Open New Search...
Opens a new search window separate from others already open.
Clear...
Clears user entered search criteria from the search fields.
Audio...
Sets the search filter to only return Audio files in the results (mp3,
wav, au, mid, aif, etc).
Video...
Sets the search filter to only return Video files in the results (avi,
mpg, mpeg, asf, etc).
Pictures...
Sets the search filter to only return Picture files in the results (jpg,
png, jpeg, gif, bmp, etc).
Search All Available Networks
(Dropdown)...
Allows you to specify which network you want to search.
Search...
Starts the search for matching files according to the search criteria set
by the user.
Search In New Window...
Opens another search window using the previous windows search criteria.
Stop...
Stops any search in progress, halts the display of any further results
returned.
Close...
Closes the currently open search window.
Download Selected Files...
Downloads all user highlighted files contained within the search results.
Manually Resume Selected Files...
Allows you to manually select a local file to resume download from.
Show Full Paths...
Shows the full true path to the files on the remote users computer.
Auto Complete...
When this is set to on, any selected files will attempt to automatically
download and complete.
Ping On-Screen Results...
Sends out a 'ping' request to all on screen results as a tool to help
determine the network distance/delay between client and server (local and
remote user). The lower the figure the better.
Ping All Results...
Sends out a 'ping' request to all returned results as a tool to help
determine the network distance/delay between client and server (local and
remote user). The lower the figure the better.
Hotlist Window
(Top)
Hotlist Options
Add User...
Allows you to add a specific user name manually (Users on OpenNap servers
only).
Auto Responder...
Allows you to configure an automated response message to be sent out on
receipt of an incoming message. This is particularly useful for when
the computer is left unattended as a way of informing the message sender
that the message has been received (Be Back Later, Away From Keyboard,
etc).
Privacy Level...
Use this to set in what instances you'll allow incoming messages to be
received.
Confirm Remove...
If ticked asks you to confirm the removal of any hotlist entries rather
than instant removal.
Browse On Double Click...
If ticked, double-clicking a user in the hotlist will open
a browse window, rather than a 'Send Message' window.
Change Temp User Display Template...
Allows you to define how the temporary WPN users are displayed in the
list.
Change Offline User Display Template...
Allows you to define how offline OpenNap users are displayed in the list.
Change Online User Display Template...
Allows you to define how online OpenNap users are displayed in the list.
Transfers
Window
(Top)
Upper Half of Screen (Download)
Clear Complete...
Clears any completed downloads from the transfer window.
Clear Incomplete\Load Incomplete...
If any incomplete downloads are displayed in the transfer
window without 'Auto Complete' set, this button will display as 'Clear
Incomplete' enabling removal of any incomplete files from display.
Once there are no incomplete transfers displayed the button changes to
'Load Incomplete', this now allows you to reload any previously incomplete
transfers for resume.
Purge Users...
This button removes any disconnected, timed out,
unavailable users from screen, leaving only currently active users
showing.
Cancel...
This cancels any download that is highlighted by the user.
Clear...
This clears any inactive, user highlighted downloads from the transfer
display.
Retry...
This forces any highlighted download to retry for connection to the
displayed user.
Queuing...
Opens the Queuing dialog allowing maximum transfer limits to be set (e.g.
maximum 5 downloads at once).
Open Incoming Files Folder...
Opens the user specified download folder where all
downloads are saved to.
Lower Half of Screen (Upload)
Clear Complete...
Clears any completed uploads from the transfer window.

Clears any incomplete uploads from the transfer window.

Loads the original dark on light colour scheme for WinMX.
Load Colour Scheme From File...
Allows a user to manually select and load a saved CLR
(colour) file to use.
Save Current Colour Scheme To File...
Allows a user to save out the current colour scheme to a
CLR file.
Search For Colour Scheme Files...
Opens a search window and automatically searches the WinMX
Peer Network for other user created colour scheme files.

Connection Type...
Specify what Internet Connection you have here.
Outgoing TCP Connection Settings...
Determine how WinMX should establish outgoing connections
here.
Incoming TCP Connection Settings...
Specify the local port remote users will connect into here
(default 6699). 'Unable to accept incoming TCP connections'
represents 'Firewalled' mode, meaning all connections will be initiated
outwards instead of inwards. A Primary connection cannot be made in
'Firewalled' mode.
Incoming And Outgoing UDP Packet Settings...
Specify the local port UDP datagrams will be received on
here (default 6257). 'Unable to send or receive UDP datagrams on any
port' represents 'Firewalled' mode. Using Firewalled mode here means
a Primary connection cannot be made.
Host Name Resolution / DNS Settings...
Specify how WinMX will attempt to resolve domain names here
(default is 'Use operating system to resolve host names').

Specify whether WinMX should automatically attempt to
connect to the WinMX Peer Network at start up.
Preferred Peer Cache...
Used to help group users together by region to improve
network performance and efficiency.

This is used to help control the amount of data a Primary
connection processes for the WinMX Peer Network.

OpenNap servers are addressed by either an IP address or
Domain name (62.252.41.66 vs napserv.dns2go.com). Tick this to
prevent OpenNap servers listed by only IP address from being imported to
WinMX from WSX server lists.

Allow Incoming Messages From Any Source...
Allows any user on any connected network to send messages
at any time.
Only Allow Messages From The Following Sources...
Specify criteria to be met before any incoming messages
will be allowed.
Incoming Message Alert...
Used to configure whether WinMX should play a sound on
receipt of an incoming message.
Quiet... No
sound notification, also used to remove any previously configured sound
configuration.

Uses the system internal speaker and motherboard to produce
an audible sound.
